Case Study - Schools Unifi controller failing
A US based Education facility contacted Clouduni.fi about their in house controller running a very early version 5 of Unifi controller. The hardware the controller was running on had some issues and the controller would not longer stay stable. This resulted in device re-provisioning each time the controller would start. This progressively worsened and resulted in multiple re-provisions daily, taking the network offline each time.
Clouduni.fi were able to retrieve a settings only backup file, and repair the database. All the hard shutdowns of the server had resulted in some corruption. The backup was imported to a version 5 controller in the lab, and then upgraded to 6.5.55 in order to ensure the log4j vulnerability was closed off from earlier versions.
A script was provided to SSH into all 76 Unifi Access points and 22 Unifi switches to point them to the new Clouduni.fi Unifi Cloud Hosted controller.
The client will now be adding an additional 12 Unifi Access points and 2 Unifi switches to their facility before the school year begins again.
The client signed up for a hosted plan at £40 per month including full support. All the above work was carried out as part of the Hosting plan with no additional onboarding or support costs.
